Police have seized a sawn-off shotgun and drugs after arresting a 24-year-old in Auckland.

Officers received reports of a driver slumped over the steering at a Clover Park petrol station on Sunday.

Police suspected the man was under the influence of drugs, and searched his vehicle after finding drug-paraphernalia inside.

They found a double-barrelled sawn-off shotgun, as well as a large quantity of ecstasy and cash.

The 24-year-old is expected to appear in Manukau District court on Monday.

He is charged with unlawfully carrying a restricted weapon, failing to carry out obligations regarding a computer search, and possessing ecstasy for supply.

"We're very happy to have taken a dangerous weapon like this off the streets, and that the alleged offender will now be held to account for his actions," inspector Rakana Cook said.
