The British Council, the UK's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, has announced the 11th edition of its prestigious Study UK Alumni Awards programme. This annual awards initiative celebrates leaders who have utilised their UK education to bring about significant changes in their industries, communities, and countries. The awards are divided into four categories that highlight remarkable achievements across different fields: Science and Sustainability, Culture and Creativity, Social Action, and Business and Innovation.

The Global Alumni Award winners will have the chance to elevate their international profiles, expand their professional networks, and participate in a professional networking visit to the UK. Additionally, India will host a national ceremony to honour its finalists.

The deadline for submitting applications is set for October 21, 2024. Indian finalists will be announced in March 2025, with the global winners celebrated in July 2025 through a digital campaign that will spotlight their remarkable journeys and accomplishments.

Last year, the awards attracted more than 1,500 applications from UK alumni in nearly 100 countries, representing over 130 higher education institutions. The growing popularity of the UK as a study destination for Indian students continues, with a notable increase in study visa grants. Between July 2023 and June 2024, a total of 147,051 sponsored study visas were granted, with Indians accounting for 46 percent of this total.
