In a story that has captured hearts across the country, Sarfaraz, a 21-year-old from West Bengal, has achieved an extraordinary milestone. Despite working as a labourer and facing severe financial challenges, he scored an impressive 677 out of 720 in the NEET 2024 exam and is now set to join Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor.

Sarfaraz's daily life revolved around lifting 400 bricks alongside his father to support his family. Living in a modest house built under PM Awas Yojana, his journey was anything but easy.

His mother tearfully recalled how she sat beside him during cold nights under an incomplete roof, ensuring he could study without falling ill.

Facing ridicule from neighbours who questioned why he continued manual labour despite his studies, Sarfaraz never gave up. "Log kehte the itni padhai karke bhi yeh kaam kar raha hai," he shared, reflecting on the societal pressure he endured.

HOW SARFARAZ GAINED SOCIAL ATTENTION

Sarfaraz's life changed when his story caught the attention. During the pandemic, Sarfaraz began using YouTube videos to prepare for NEET, studying on a broken phone purchased with government aid.

Eventually, he enrolled in a PW course after waiting for discounts.

This wasn’t Sarfaraz’s first attempt at NEET. In 2023, he gained admission to a dental college but had to drop out due to financial difficulties. Undeterred, he reattempted the exam in 2024 and succeeded, proving that persistence pays off.

Sarfaraz’s story has gone viral, with videos of his interaction with Alakh Pandey garnering over 10 million views. He also promised Sarfaraz to offer financial aid for college enrolment. Today, he is more than just a NEET achiever, he is an inspiration to his village and beyond.

Villagers now see him as a role model, and Sarfaraz actively mentors younger students, encouraging them to dream big and work hard.
