  • CBSE confirms no 15% syllabus cut or open book exams for 2025
  • Board advises against reliance on unverified news about exam changes
  • Exam pattern changes, if any, will be announced on the CBSE website, it stated

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) clarified on Thursday that it has not issued any directive to reduce the syllabus for Classes 10 and 12 by 15%, nor does it plan to introduce open-book exams in selected subjects or increase the internal assessment weightage.

The board issued an official statement denying these claims and encouraged students, parents, and the general public to rely solely on official announcements through the CBSE website for accurate updates.

The CBSE took swift action to refute news circulating online claiming that the CBSE regional officer for Bhopal, Vikas Kumar Agrawal, had announced a few upcoming changes in the CBSE exam pattern at a summit in Indore.

The news suggested that the board would reduce the syllabus by 15% for Classes 10 and 12 and introduce open-book exams in subjects like English literature and social science from 2025 onwards.

According to the circulating news, these changes aimed to reduce student stress and align with the New Education Policy’s holistic approach.

However, CBSE’s statement issued on Thursday, signed by Vikas Kumar Agrawal read, “CBSE has not made any such change in its examination system and internal evaluation system, nor has any official information been issued in this regard.”

CBSE reiterated that any official updates or changes in examination patterns will only be shared via their website or official circulars. The board strongly advised avoiding unverified news, and directing students and stakeholders to regularly check the CBSE website for accurate information.

CBSE BOARD EXAM 2025 FORMAT TO REMAIN UNCHANGED

For the 2024-25 academic session, CBSE confirmed that the single-term examination format would continue for both Class 10 and 12. While it has plans to reintroduce the two-term examination format from the 2025-26 session, as of now, there will be no immediate changes.

This system aligns with CBSE’s long-term goals to create a more adaptive and student-centred evaluation process but will not affect students appearing for the 2025 board exams.
