The Kerala government has introduced a new initiative aimed at empowering parents to better support their children’s education. On Friday, state General Education Minister V Sivankutty unveiled a set of four books titled 'Parents with the Growing Child,' which offer guidance to parents on addressing their children’s educational needs from pre-primary to higher secondary levels.

The initiative is part of Kerala's broader effort to strengthen the partnership between parents, schools, and students, promoting well-rounded development.

Designed specifically for parents of public school students, the books cover the different educational stages, including Pre-Primary, Lower Primary, Upper Primary, and High School-Higher Secondary. The government aims to enhance parental involvement in education by providing detailed advice on how to support children’s growth, development, and learning needs.

Minister Sivankutty highlighted Kerala's leadership in education and noted that the books were one of the key recommendations from a special focus group on parenting education, which was formed as part of the state’s curriculum reform.

These books are not just resources but the foundation for a comprehensive parent education program led by trained teachers. Kerala remains the only state in India to include parenting education as a critical component of its educational framework.

The government believes this initiative will encourage greater parental engagement, further strengthening Kerala’s reputation as a pioneer in public education.
