Delhi University (DU) has yet again postponed the announcement of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) election results. The counting of votes for the central panel is now set for November 25, just a day before the Delhi High Court’s deadline.

The postponement comes as DU grapples with the task of removing election-related defacement across its campuses. Officials have identified 190 locations needing clean-up, but progress remains unsatisfactory, according to an inspection committee.

“Our teams are still working on the clean-up efforts. While the campuses have largely been cleaned, defacement in other parts remains. We are working rigorously to complete the process as soon as possible,” an official told PTI.

The defacement issue has been a major hurdle. The High Court had directed DU to complete the clean-up and submit a status report before proceeding with the vote count.

NEW SCHEDULE FOR COUNTING

DU has now scheduled the college-level vote counting for November 24, with morning colleges starting at 8 am and evening colleges at 2 pm. The central panel counting will follow on November 25 at the Conference Center near the Botany Department on North Campus.

Originally slated for September 28, the DUSU election results have been delayed by almost three months. A previously planned November 21 vote count was also pushed back due to the unresolved defacement concerns.

This repeated rescheduling has left students and candidates frustrated, but with the clean-up nearly complete, the university hopes to finally declare the results without further interruptions.
