Two arrested after 'shots are fired' from car on busy road

An air pistol, pellets and a car were seized

Two men have been arrested following an incident during which shots were fired from one vehicle at another. Police were alerted to the incident, which took place on the A39 Dunster Straight, near Minehead, at around 6pm on Thursday, October 3.

It was reported to police that shots were fired at a car. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that one one was injured at the scene. Two men, one in his teens and one in his 20s, were arrested at an address on Summerlands Road just before 8pm the same day.

They were suspected of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, a spokesperson for the force said. Officers recovered an air pistol along with pellets and also seized a car.

The two men were taken into police custody. Now officers are urging members of the public to come forward with any information or dashcam footage that could shed light on the incident.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "Two men are in police custody today, Friday 4 October, following an incident on the A39 Dunster Straight near Minehead. Officers were called just after 6pm on Thursday 3 October to reports that the occupant of a car had fired shots at another vehicle.

"No one was injured in the incident. Two adults - one late teens, the other in his 20s - were arrested from an address in Summerlands Road, Minehead, just before 8pm on Thursday on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

"Officers, including specialist firearms units, seized an air pistol and pellets as well as a car. Anyone with information or dashcam footage which could help the police investigation is asked to call 101 and give the reference 5224261215."
