Teacher's brutally honest three gifts kids should 'never' give at Christmas - including one 'uncomfortable' present
by Shannon Brown · BristolLiveA brutally honest woman has issued a warning to parents about the types of gifts teachers "don't want" as Christmas approaches. With most UK schools breaking up for the festive period next week, many parents opt to give their child's teacher a small token of appreciation.
However, choosing a gift for someone who isn't a close friend or family member can be challenging. Teachers often end up with a car boot full of presents ranging from handmade cards and chocolates to candles and even Stanley Cups.
But there's always that one student who brings in something unusual - The Mirror reported instances of a half-eaten Mars Bar and a stolen engagement ring being gifted. One US primary school teacher, Natalie, has shared three things she would "rather not get" this Christmas on TikTok, leading some to label her as "ungrateful".
The content creator, known as @primaryfocus, garnered over 16,000 views after discussing the topic online, reports the Mirror. She stated: "If you've been in the classroom long enough you will have gotten one of these 'gifts' that's not quite the blessing you hoped for. Here's three gifts that teachers don't want. "Number one - anything in a Victoria Secret bag.
"I don't care that you didn't get them underwear that lotion smells bad and now you have a Victoria's Secret bag on your desk. It's just awkward."
Natalie, a teacher from North Carolina, made claims about the gifts teachers do not appreciate, saying: "Listen, it's cool that you want to get everybody donuts but you need to ask ahead when and if the teacher is OK with that, because what it is for us is a giant sugar high from all of our kids and then the sugar crash. It's just way too much sugar, especially for the little guys."
She further remarked: "And last one, they don't want your advances. I've had a few dads try to come on to me over the years and it is uncomfortable. Remember you've got the entire school year to work together. Maybe just go online and find someone."
However, Natalie's frankness seemed to ruffle some feathers among TikTok viewers, leading to a wave of disgruntlement about giving gifts to teachers at all. One person expressed their sentiments bluntly: "Reason why I don't give teachers c**p. "
A different user was exasperated, commenting: "My god, just shut up. I hope your students' parents get you Jack s**t now. Ungrateful.|"
Another urged her to be appreciative: "So negative, be grateful they got anything," while someone else concluded: "With ungrateful teachers like you I'd rather not give anything to any teachers."
A peer in the teaching profession shared their disappointment: "As a preschool teacher, it's disappointing you think this way. I hope your kids don't get you s**t."
Yet there were those who supported Natalie's video message, with one sympathiser saying: "I agree with this video." To combat the issue of sugary treats, a user recommended distributing them just before dismissal time, advising: "That's why you pass the treats out right before dismissal."
