A Nottingham bus station has closed after a bus driver crashed into part of the building. Several windows have been smashed and signs and bollards have been knocked over at the Victoria Bus Station following the incident this morning (November 22).

Nottingham City Council, which runs the bus station, said in a statement at around 10.40am: "Victoria Bus Station is temporarily closed after a minor collision where a bus struck one of the bays. The hope is that it will reopen later today and we'll keep you updated.

"In the meantime, please check with your provider for alternative arrangements regarding services today." Pictures from the scene show that the second bay at the bus station has been affected by the incident.

Signs inside the bus station read: "Victoria Bus Station is closed due to an incident. See departure boards on wall for next stop locations for services."

Trentbarton confirmed that it would not be serving the Victoria Bus Station, saying in a statement: "Victoria Bus Station cannot be served at this current time. No trentbarton services are going to be serving Victoria Bus Station until further notice."

Pictures from the scene also show that a local glass replacement company already appears to be at the scene, with at least four large panes of glass either completely cracked or smashed to pieces. Several cones and temporary barriers have been installed to stop people accessing the affected bus bay.

The building was deserted on Friday morning, with a few confused-looking customers arriving at the site to discover it is currently closed.
