Crews called to Stapleford house fire delayed due to amount of parked cars
by Rucsandra Moldoveanu · NottinghamshireLiveFirefighters rushing to the scene of a house fire had to detour due the amount of parked cars on the street. Firefighters said two homes and some electrical cables were alight in Manor Avenue, Stapleford, on Monday evening, November 25.
But due to the amount of cars on the street they had to gain access to the properties via the neighbouring Mill Road. "Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed in to the risk area to stop the fire spreading," a spokesman for the fire service said.
Crews from the Stapleford, Ilkeston and Long Eaton fire stations attended the incident. The incident was handed over to Nottinghamshire Police and engineers at Western Power Distribution at 10pm.
Several homes remained without power for a few more hours. The spokesman for the fire service said: "Today - Tuesday - our team will be revisiting the road and offering safe and well visits, where needed, smoke alarms, and advice about the incident. For people who are out at work, we will leave details on how to contact us for a visit at a later date."
The fire was first reported at 6.45pm on Monday evening with Manor Avenue closed by the emergency services.
