Police have launched a CCTV appeal as they try and trace a potential witness to a reported sexual assault down a Nottingham alleyway. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that a 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with a report of a serious sexual assault in Eldon Chambers in the early hours of November 6.

The courtyard, off Wheeler Gate, is home to businesses including the No. Twelve restaurant. A cordon was in place until the morning after the incident and police now believe they have identified a man who could help their investigation.

Police stress the man in the image is not being treated as a suspect, but may be able to provide "invaluable" information. The 22-year-old arrested has since been bailed.

Detective Inspector Lisa Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "We must stress that the man in the image is a potential witness that could provide invaluable information that would assist our investigation. He is not being treated as a suspect.

"Please contact us if you recognise the man pictured in the CCTV image or if you have any information that will assist our investigation." Anyone recognising the man in the image should call police on 101, quoting reference number 24*656907, and those wishing to stay anonymous can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
