Pedestrian dies after collision with van on A614 in Nottinghamshire

Police have confirmed that a pedestrian has died after a collision in Bassetlaw. The 76-year-old man, who has not been named, was on foot when he was struck by a van at the junction of the A614 and Snape Lane at 5.04pm yesterday (Wednesday, November 20).

The man was treated for his injuries at the scene, but was pronounced dead shortly after. The driver of the van was spoken to at the scene.

No arrests have been made and a file will now be prepared for the coroner. Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Roads Policing and Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a very traumatic incident for everyone involved – including the members of the public who rushed to give this man first aid.

“Our thoughts today are with this man’s family, who will be supporting in the days and weeks ahead by a specially trained family liaison officer.”

Snape Lane was closed at the junction with the A614 in both directions after the collision, between Blyth Services and Scrooby Road, while investigative work took place. Drivers were asked to find alternative routes.
