Ten family homes could be built off a Mansfield road, as planning documents have been put forward. The detached homes would be located on an empty plot of land at Forest Edge 19 Oak Tree Lane and have four or five bedrooms.

The site previously contained a large detached property set within a substantial garden plot, however, this was demolished and the site cleared in February 2023. A secure fence has since been erected along the Oak Tree Lane road frontage.

The plot totals 12,016 sqm (2.96 acres). A number of existing trees were also felled and removed from the site ahead of the development. According to planning documents submitted to Mansfield District Council, the first two proposed dwellings will be facing towards Oak Tree Lane, while the other eight will be facing the internal access road.

The detached properties will benefit from generous amenity space, integral garaging and driveway parking. A total of 38 parking spaces will be available on the estate according to the plans.

The planning application reads: "In appearance the house will harmonise with the prevailing urban pattern, being of two-storeys and constructed of facing brickwork with architectural detailing to heads, cills, eaves and verges under tiled roofs." Vehicle and pedestrian access gates will also be located at the site entrance.

The proposed development would be located near the Oak Tree Lane local centre which includes a leisure centre, a health centre, a retail superstore and a pub. It is also located close to a bus stop which runs to Mansfield town centre around every 30 minutes.
