Beeston salon owner 'petrified' after bricks hurled at windows

A salon owner in a Nottinghamshire town says she feels "petrified" and "heartbroken" after bricks were thrown at the windows of her business. Three panes at the front of the Lash Lounge in Queens Road, Beeston were shattered by vandals just after 5pm on Wednesday (November 13).

Sarah Clay said she was left "dumbfounded" by the damage, which she expects will have a "huge financial impact" on the business. Nottinghamshire Police said they are investigating the incident and encouraged members of the public with information to come forward.

Ms Clay, who left work shortly before the vandals struck, received a call at around 5.15pm. "One of the delivery guys from up the road saw two boys or men doing it. I shot back and rang the police," said the 42-year-old.

"They'd picked bricks up and continually hit not one but three of the massive windows. I was dumbfounded when they called me." Ms Clay added: "I'm heartbroken, that's the only way I can explain how I feel.

"I work so hard and put so much back into the community and this is what someone has done to me. I don't know if it's malicious or targeted, but we're feeling very vulnerable at the moment."

She said boarding up the property last night cost £450 and is worried all the repairs will not be covered by her insurance. "This is going to have a huge financial impact on us. It's not going to be a cheap fix," she said.

"I'm petrified that if we get my windows done they will do it again, and if they do it will be game over."

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: "We were called to an incident of criminal damage on Queens Road in Beeston just before 5.30pm on Wednesday 13 November. We have attended the scene and are currently carrying out a number of lines of inquiry.

"Anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident number 0523 of the 13th November 2024 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
