Ashfield MP Lee Anderson has vowed to go for a pint with the 100,000th person to join the Reform UK party. The politician made the pledge as leader Nigel Farage revealed that the party is "on the cusp" of surpassing the milestone.

The former UKIP frontman claimed that the party is the "fastest-growing in the UK" in a Facebook post shared by Lee Anderson on Tuesday, November 26. Farage added that the pint with Anderson was, from his experience, "not something to be missed."

His post said: "Reform UK is currently on the cusp of surpassing 100,000 members, making us the fastest growing political party in the UK. I am asking you to join us today and play a vital role in the future of our party.

"Our 100,000th member will be invited for a pint (or two) with Lee Anderson MP. I can say from experience, this is not something to be missed! If you care about our country, now is the time to fight back."

A video attached to the post shows Reform UK chair Zia Yusuf telling viewers: "The lucky person who becomes the 100,000th member of Reform UK will get to have drinks with someone very special indeed

The camera then cuts to Anderson, holding a pint, who says: "That's right Zia. The lucky member will get to join me in a pub like this, for a few of these (pints)."

He then takes a swig of the beer. The pub he was in, and which pub the drink with him may be at, is unclear.

The Facebook post drew a number of comments. One woman, Carol Haizelden, said: "Can I join again?" And Lynne Child said: "My husbands Christmas present is membership to Reform."

Anderson is said to frequent the Dog House pub on Station Street in Kirkby-in-Ashfield. He defected from the Tory party to Reform UK in March after fall-out from comments he made about Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. He was previously a Labour councillor.
