Two Nottinghamshire park and rides closed after travellers pitch up on each site
by Laycie Beck · NottinghamshireLiveMotorists will be unable to use two park and ride sites today - Wednesday, November 27 - after travellers pitched up on each site. Nottingham City Transport has warned its passengers that both the Queens Drive and Colwick Park and Ride locations would be out of bounds on Wednesday.
The transport provider shared an update on X, formerly known as Twitter, shortly before 7.30pm on Tuesday, November 26. The message read: "Queens Drive and Colwick Park and Ride sites will both be closed on Wednesday 27th November due to travellers on site.
"Navy 49 will remain on Queens Drive as service 49A - Please use Clifton Bridge North as an alternative." Nottingham City Council has also confirmed that both park and ride sites will be closed today, adding that they "apologise for the short notice."
This comes just weeks after The Racecourse Park and Ride site in Colwick was closed due to an 'illegal encampment' on Thursday, November 14. There are a number of other park and ride sites that can be used instead, although these may require going on the tram or a trentbarton bus service instead.
These include the Phoenix Park Park and Ride, Forest Park and Ride, Clifton Park and Ride or the Toton Lane Park and Ride. There are also two pocket park and ride locations in Cotgrave and Stragglethorpe, which are served by trentbarton's The Cotgrave service.
