Liam Payne, who tragically passed away at the age of 31 during a holiday in Argentina, had sustained 25 injuries, according to reports. Argentine authorities have released details surrounding his heartbreaking death, suggesting that the musician "jumped from the balcony" of his hotel room, leading to his fatal fall.

In an official statement provided to The Associated Press, police confirmed that the former One Direction member "jumped from the balcony of his room," seemingly ruling out any possibility of an accidental fall or foul play. The distressing event occurred while he was on holiday in Buenos Aires, where he attended a concert by his ex-bandmate, Niall Horan, reports the Mirror.

Forensic experts concluded that "the 25 injuries described in the autopsy are compatible with those caused by a fall from a height."

They further noted that Liam had no "defensive type" injuries and that the wounds on his body were "vital and produced at the same time as each other" thereby dismissing "the intervention of third parties would be ruled out," as reported by Argentinian news outlet La Nacion. An initial post-mortem examination suggested that Payne died from "multiple traumas" resulting in "internal and external bleeding" following a 40-foot drop from the third floor of the hotel.

After receiving an emergency call just after 5pm local time about an "aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol," authorities rushed to the scene, as stated in the report to AP.

Alberto Crescenti, chief of Buenos Aires' emergency services, confirmed that Liam died instantly due to multiple injuries, including a skull fracture. He stated: "Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life."

"Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death."

Liam's One Direction bandmates, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik, expressed their devastation in a statement, saying: "We're completely devastated by the news of Liam's passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam."
