Carlton Road 'cordoned off' near Lidl as large police presence reported in Nottingham

A large police presence is being reported near a Nottingham supermarket this evening. There are reports of an ongoing incident this evening (October 27) near the Lidl store in Carlton Road, which closes at 4pm on a Sunday.

Some eyewitnesses reported as many as 10 police cars and a helicopter in the area, with some suggesting that a large part of the road had been cordoned off. Google traffic data shows congestion on surrounding roads including Windmill Lane and St Matthias Road at the time of writing.

Another eyewitness said: "Forces and a huge number of members of the public were gathering in the car park... Whatever happened it didn't seem to be inside the store, more outside towards the entrance of the car park."

Others reported hearing a helicopter in Thorneywood due to the ongoing reported incident. Multiple people got in touch with Nottinghamshire Live between 7pm and 8pm this evening regarding the incident. Nottinghamshire Police has been contacted for more information.
