A Scots cyclist was reportedly 'assaulted' by a driver on a busy Edinburgh street.

Officers from Police Scotland raced to High School Wynd, at the junction with Cowgate, at around 6.30pm on Friday following an altercation. The male cyclist, aged 34, was rushed to hospital to be checked over.

Footage of the alleged altercation between the driver and the cyclist has been shared on social media. The cyclist appears to be having a verbal spat with the passenger of the car before the driver approaches him and grabs him by the neck and throws him down onto the ground, reports Edinburgh Live.

The cyclist is left lying on the road holding his head surrounded by shocked eye witnesses as the vehicle drives off.

Police are reportedly following positive lines of enquiry in relation to the incident,

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.25pm on Friday, 20 September, 2024, we received a report of a male cyclist being assaulted during an altercation with the male driver of a car in High School Wynd, Edinburgh.

“The 34-year-old victim was taken to hospital to be checked over and officers are following positive lines of enquiry in relation to the incident.”
