Police keen to speak to two men in connection with vehicle blaze

Pair were allegedly seen with a fuel can around time of blaze in Cumbernauld on Saturday night

An investigation has been launched after a vehicle was set on fire in Cumbernauld.

Police said the deliberate blaze was started around 9.45pm on Saturday. The incident happened on Hornbeam Road in the town.

The fire was extinguished and there were no reports of any injuries.

Police are appealing for information and are keen to trace two men seen in the area at the time carrying a fuel can. Detective Constable David Williamson said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone with information to contact us.

“We also ask anyone who may have private CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 3777 of 28 September. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
