Ten men arrested for 'organised drug activity' at Edinburgh city centre hotspot

Ten men have now been arrested in connection with "organised drug activity" at an Edinburgh city centre hotspot in the past week.

At an address in north Edinburgh, that was found to be connected to organised drug activity in the Old Town, a search warrant was executed. Substances and other items were seized as two men were arrested. This follows eight males being arrested on December 6 after locals raised concerns over illegal activity at Hunter Square and on the High Street, with officers then carrying out plain-clothed patrols, reports Edinburgh Live.

Police Scotland South East Edinburgh posted to X: "A further two males were arrested this week for organised drug activity in the Old Town area of Edinburgh A search warrant was then executed at an address in north Edinburgh, where an amount of substances and other items were seized as part of the enquiry."

On December 6, a statement from Police Scotland added: "Following reports from concerned members of the public and businesses of drug activity in the High Street and Hunter Square area of Edinburgh, plain clothes officers have been carrying out targeted patrols over a number of recent weeks.

"Eight males have now been arrested during this period for suspected organised drug activity and a search warrant has been executed at an address out with the city centre as previously posted. This includes a further three males last night with enquiries ongoing.

"Police patrols will continue into the New Year with both uniformed and plain clothes officers. Enquiries are ongoing to identify any other persons involved in drug activity in the area."
