A man who took a metal detector to a beach in Ibiza couldn't believe his eyes after checking through his haul.

Spanish TikTok user @metalesbajolaarena has amassed nearly 50,000 followers by sharing his metal detecting adventures. His latest escapade on an Ibiza beach left him astonished as he unearthed seven gold rings among the usual rubbish and old coins, after four hours of searching. One of the gold rings was 19-carat.

He wrote "thanks to the sea for all that it gives me" in the video caption, and added in the clip: "Well, this is what wanted to come out today on a beach that I have already squeezed. I've been there many days and it's still giving me things.

"Here there is rubbish as always, but less and less. Some lead. Coins, as you can see, some foreign ones, some pesetas [old Spanish coins], five, 25, 100, 500, some euros, two euros, one euro, 20 cents, and the incredible amount of seven gold rings.

"These three are nine-carat. You can see it in the colour. These are 18-carat and this one is 19-carat. I've never pulled out a 19-carat ring before. It was cool and super entertaining. Four hours. See you next time."

Carat indicates gold purity, with 24-carat being pure. 19-carat gold comprises 79.17% gold. In the UK, 19-carat gold currently fetches around £54 per gram according to GoldPriceZ.

The TikTok clip featuring the metal detectorist's find has gone viral, amassing thousands of views and sparking a flurry of comments. One user asked the metal detectorist: "You don't want to give it back, do you? Someone will be desperate to find their ring." To which he replied: "When I know who it belongs to, otherwise it is impossible, especially here where 90% of the things are from foreigners."
