Rugby fans heading along to Scotland's match with Australia on Sunday will be offered the opportunity to donate to a fund in memory of a former Stirling County star.
A charity collection has been arranged at Murrayfield for the Siobhan's Legacy of Love Fund, which was set up to honour Scotland international Siobhan Cattigan who passed away three years ago aged just 26.
The legacy fund raises cash for young patients at Glasgow Children’s Hospital to receive ‘hippotherapy’, a treatment type which uses the sensory and motor stimulation of horse-riding which reflects the former Scotland star’s love of animals.
There will be around 20 collectors dotted around the stadium urging donations to the fund, with Scotland scrum-halves George Horne and Jamie Dobie among those showing their support.
George said: “The memorial fund raises money for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. We really appreciate anything you can spare to honour Siobhan’s legacy.”
Siobhan supported the charity for more than decade before her death in November 2021 and her family have continued that fundraising legacy following her passing with a series of events.
Kirsten Watson, CEO of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We first met Siobhan as a teenager, aged 13, where her enthusiasm for fundraising and dedication to helping children was apparent for all to see as she raised vital funds in memory of her baby cousin Chloe.
“Siobhan’s generosity continued throughout her academic years and sporting career. We are honoured that her family and friends continue to fundraise, ensuring her legacy shines brightly.”
