Fox News have declared Donald Trump as the winner of the US presidential election 2024, despite some key states still having to call their results.
The Republican nominee is speaking to jubilant supporters is Florida as he edges increasingly closer to shock return to the White House this morning. Early in the night, Trump supporters started to grow in confidence as the Republican nominee extended his margin of victory in a number of key states, such as Florida.
As reported by the Mirror, he later clinched the important swing states of North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Georgia. The famously-accurate pollster Ann Selzer, who generated much media speculation with an outlier poll for Kamala Harris in Iowa, appears to have been wrong by a significant degree.
Taking to the stage with his family at West Palm Beach with his family, Trump declared victory. "I want to thank you all very much," he said, praising the "incredible" MAGA movement. "Frankly I believe this was the best political movement of all time."
"We have a country that needs help very badly," he added, promising to "fix everything". "It's clear that... this is a political victory," he added.
"I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honour of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president," he says, effectively claiming victory. "This is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again."
Donald Trump said his victory will be "truly be the golden age for America". He added: "Every single day I will be fighting for you, with every single breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that children deserve. And that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age for America."
Exit polls released painted a bleak picture of the US political landscape, with three in four voters having a negative perception of the current state of affairs in the US. Only about one-quarter express enthusiasm or satisfaction with the nation's position.
Over four in 10 expressed dissatisfaction and roughly three in 10 have said they're angry. Despite a number of bomb threats and ongoing security concerns, millions of voters queued to cast their ballots across the United States.
