Talented tots in Dumfries are being given the chance to foster a love of the performing arts.

Razzamataz Dumfries has launched Tiny Tots sessions, specifically designed to give babies and toddlers the chance to explore music, movement and sensory play, all while building confidence and essential social skills.

And for parents and carers, it’s a chance to bond with their children and meet other people in a similar stage in life.

Razzamataz Dumfries principal, Debbie Mitchell, said: “The sessions are so interactive and fun with fresh, modern songs that the adults enjoy just as much as the children. There’s a different theme every single week, with a wide choice of songs from nursery rhymes to Disney classics and chart hits, but all connected to a certain theme.

“There’s singalongs, light show and lots of sensory play allowing for a different level of interaction for all the children. The babies can enjoy the colours and feel of things while the older children can practice their call and response to the teacher, introducing them to life skills they will need for school.”

Tiny Tots has proven so popular that the classes soon filled up and a waiting list had to be launched.

Debbie added: “When you are a new parent, you have no idea what path your child will follow. A baby starting with you at Tiny Tots could be embarking on a journey of eighteen years.

“These sessions are a lovely way to build relationships because you are spending time with the adults in the classes, building rapport and getting to know them as individuals. What I’ve loved is seeing people forge genuine connections.

“Whether it’s grandparents bringing their grandchildren or new mums and dads, many choose to stay for a coffee or head to soft play afterward, building friendships and offering support at this crucial time. Ultimately I know what it feels like to be a new parent and the challenges that come with it so I’m really proud to be able to create a nurturing environment where parents can feel supported while their little ones explore the joys of performing arts.”
