First picture of Scots driver who died in horror HGV crash as 'heartbroken' family pay tribute

Ross Wood sadly passed away after his Mondeo collided with an HGV on the A75.

A man who died after a horror two-vehicle crash with a lorry in Dumfriesshire has been named locally.

Ross Wood, 32, died after the silver Mondeo he was driving collided with a Scania HGV on the A75 near to Springholm, Castle Douglas, at around 1.15am on Friday, September, 20.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and the 57-year-old male driver of the truck was taken to Galloway Royal Infirmary as a precaution. Family and friends lined up to pay tribute to Ross after hearing the news of his death.

His sister, Becca Wood, said: "I don't know how I am meant to do this without you. I love you more than anything and always will. I'm so so heartbroken. I just want to come see you and give you a cuddle."

Kelvin Wood commented: "Absolutely shocked to hear the tragic news, Ross. You were one of a kind but I know you will stay in many people’s hearts forever. Sending love and support to the rest of our family at this very sad time."

Marcin Kan said: "Ross you will be hugely missed. You were one of the kindest and genuine people I have ever met. You will be remembered for the great person you were."

Sergeant Chris McColm said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen what happened to get in touch. Likewise, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then make contact with officers.

"Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0209 of September 20."
