A violent thug acted like The Incredible Hulk as he charged towards cops despite being tTasered four times. Liam Collins was only stopped in his tracks when a constable hit him on the nose with the electronic device which is supposed to stop criminals with a 50,000-volt shock.

Collins, 34, was sentenced to three years in prison after earlier pleading guilty to having an offensive weapon in a public place, assaulting police officers and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Livingston Sheriff Court heard police stopped drunken Collins to question him about a vandalism allegation near his partner’s home in Fauldhouse, West Lothian, on April 16. As they approached him he pulled a wooden bat out of his waistband and adopted a fighting stance shouting: “Come ahead.”

Like the comic book character Dr Bruce Banner, who turns into the giant green Hulk when angered, Collins refused to back down. Three police officers drew their Tasers and ordered him to drop the bat but Collins advanced towards them swinging it above his head.

When the first officer fired his Taser, Collins told him: “Get to f*** with that.” He smashed the windscreen of a marked police vehicle with his bat then charged at the police officer, who discharged his Taser again.

Other officers hit Collins twice more with their stun guns but it failed to stop him until he was brought to the ground when he was struck on the nose with a Taser.

Prosecutor Fiona Hamilton said Collins continued to struggle as officers dragged him to his feet and put him in a police car but on the way to a police station, he threatened the cops. She said Collins’ chilling threats included: “I’ll torture you in front of your kids. I’ll put a bullet in your wean’s head. I‘ll put a bullet in you. I’ll bite your f***ing nose off.”

A police source said: “This guy was being compared to the Incredible Hulk. A shot from a Taser would stop most folk in their tracks but after four shots, officers had to hit him with it.”

Collins, who appeared for sentence via a video link from HMP Addiewell in West Lothian, had not guilty pleas to carrying scissors in public and damaging the mirrors of a police car with the bat accepted. Kevin Dugan, defending, said Collins had since been diagnosed with ADHD and was receiving medication for bipolar problems.
