Motorist fined for parking on hard shoulder of Scots motorway to get drone footage of castle

A driver was slapped with a fine and three points on their licence after they were caught parked on the hard shoulder of a motorway whilst trying to capture drone footage of an historic castle.
Road policing officers in Stirling were travelling along the M9 motorway near the city on Sunday when they spotted the driver.
Officers then stopped to offer up assistance when they discovered that the driver had stopped to fly their drone over Stirling Castle.
The driver received three points and a £100 ticket.
In a statement on social media, Police Scotland stated: "#StirlingRP were on the M9 when they observed a vehicle stopped on the hard shoulder.
"Officers stopped to provide assistance. The driver had stopped to obtain drone footage of Stirling Castle.
"Hard shoulders are for emergencies! The driver received 3 points and a £100 ticket."
The Highway Code dictates that drivers must not stop on any carriageway, emergency area, hard shoulder, slip road, central reservation or verge except in an emergency, or when told to do so by the police, traffic officers, an emergency sign or by red flashing light signals.
