Dollar pensioner (85) named as victim in A977 horror road smash

Police have named 85-year-old James Hynd, from Dollar, Clackmannanshire, as the victim who tragically died following a road collision near Blairingone, Perth and Kinross, last week.

An 85-year-old man has died following a horror car smash with a lorry last week.

Police have named James Hynd, from Dollar, as the victim in the tragic collision.

He died following the two-vehicle crash on the A977, near Blairingone, at around 5pm on Thursday, September 19.

Mr Hynd, who was driving the car, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he died on Monday, September 23.

The driver of the lorry was not injured.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and road policing officers are continuing to appeal for more information.

Road Policing Inspector Andrew Thomson said: “Our thoughts are with James’ family and friends at this very difficult time. Officers will continue to offer support throughout our investigation.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has come forward with information so far. If anyone has information and has not already spoken to police, I’d urge them to get in touch. I’m particularly keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage which may assist our enquiries.”
