Members of Crocketford SWI enjoyed a splendid craft workshop evening at their October meeting in the village hall when Lorraine Jackson demonstrated how to make Harris Tweed brooches.

President Judi Shaw welcomed everyone and introduced Lorraine who talked members through the process of making a broach, bringing out the contents of the carrier bag she had brought with her, including material, sewing equipment and an easy to follow instruction booklet. After an hour, everyone had made a beautiful broach to take home and the tools to make another.

Bessie McClelland gave the vote of thanks after which the business of the evening took place followed by a tea break with hostess Annie Kelly providing refreshments.

Monthly competitions were judged by Lorraine and congratulations were given to winners.

Prettiest brooch – 1 Margaret Binks; 2 Linda Johnston; 3 Bessie McClelland; 4 Annie Kelly.

Tablet – 1 Sylvia Baxter; 2 Linda Johnston; 3 Bessie McClelland.

The November meeting will include the AGM and a taste and try supper.
