A Castle Douglas beauty salon has been named the best in Scotland.

Blackburns Hair and Beauty scooped the accolade of Hair and Beauty Salon of the Year at the 13th Official Scottish Beauty Industry Awards.

The salon, owned by Wayne Blackburn, achieved success at last year’s awards when they were named best salon in the south west.

However, their latest accolade saw them beat competition from across Scotland to scoop the title at The Doubletree by Hilton, in Glasgow, on Sunday night.

Wayne has run the salon in Castle Douglas for nine years and also has a salon in Newton Stewart, which he has run for 13 years.

A spokesman for the 13th Official Scottish Beauty Industry Awards said: “Our aim is to highlight the strong presence and profitability of the country’s hair and beauty industry and recognise the professionals whose talent, ethos and excellence have put them forward to receive the recognition they deserve.

“We want to congratulate all of our winners and highly commended recipients on their incredible achievements.”
