Two men and woman to stand trial over shooting of gangster Marc Webley outside Scots pub

Three suspects are to stand trial charged with the fatal shooting of a gangland figure.
Grant Hunter, 33, Emma McVie, 26, and Gary Robertson, 21, are accused of murdering Marc Webley outside a pub in West Granton Road, Edinburgh on Hogmanay last year.
The 38 year-old is said to have been shot on the body after a firearm was repeatedly discharged at him. Webley was so severely hurt that he passed away in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on January 1 2024.
The trio are separately accused of attempting to murder another man, who was also allegedly shot during the same incident. The charges are said to be "aggravated by a connection with serious organised crime".
Hunter, McVie and Robertson face a further accusation of attempting to pervert the course of justice following the attacks. This includes claims of clothes and the inside of a car used in the crimes being torched. A handgun is also said to have been disposed of.
It is further stated Robertson "in payment for carrying out the crimes" arranged for the transfer of money to Hunter and McVie. Clothes and footwear are said to have then been purchased for the pair along with the supply of cocaine. Hunter faces other accusations on the four-page indictment.
These include allegations that he acted with another in the reckless discharge of a loaded pistol towards the windows of two neighbouring flats in Edinburgh on November 2 2023. Hunter is further said to have been involved in alleged fire attacks at other properties elsewhere in the capital later that month.
He is also charged with assaulting a man to his injury on January 1 this year as well as threatening behaviour.
Hunter, McVie and Robertson all appeared in the dock for a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow today.

Lawyers for the latter two pleaded not guilty on their behalf. The court was told guilty pleas had been offered for certain accusations for Hunter, but that these had been rejected by prosecutors.
Lord Mulholland is the allocated judge for the case and he set a trial today due to begin in November 2025 in Edinburgh.
The case could last up to 15 days. Advocate depute Graeme Jessop KC will lead the prosecution. Hunter is represented by Mark Stewart KC, McVie's lawyer is Brian Gilfedder while Robertson will be defended by Iain McSporran KC.
