Man, 29, charged over street death of 'caring' Scots dad in Uddingston

David Graham, 38, died after he was found with serious neck injuries in Uddingston on Sunday.

A man has been charged in connection with the street death of a dad in Uddingston.

David Graham died from serious neck injuries after he was allegedly attacked in the General's Gate area of the South Lanarkshire town at around 7.35pm on Sunday, October 6. The 38-year-old father was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Detectives from Police Scotland previously confirmed they were treating Mr Graham's death as murder. A 29-year-old man was arrested in connection on Wednesday, October 9, and has since been charged.

He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Thursday, October 10. Images from the scene show a forensics team in attendance with white officers scouring the area.

Meanwhile, David has been remembered as a "caring" man by those who knew him.

One person posted on social media: "Thoughts are with the family. David was a great guy, known well by all the community and was a very caring guy. Rip David. Love to all the family."

Another added: "My heart and thoughts go out to family and friends. I truly am so sorry for your loss." A third said: "Can't believe it. You were some boy, Div Graham, you will be sadly missed by so many."

A statement form Police Scotland reads: "Following the death of 38-year-old David Graham from Cambuslang, officers have now charged a 29-year-old man in connection with his death.

"Around 7.35pm, on Sunday, 6 October, 2024, Mr Graham was walking in General's Gate when he was attacked. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A 29-year-old man is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Thursday, 10 October, 2024."
