Armed cops among huge police response scrambled to Scots street as man arrested

Dozens of officers were scrambled to Haig Street in Dunfermline.

A huge police presence was scrambled to a street in Dunfermline this afternoon.

Officers raced to Haig Crescent in the city at around 2.25pm on Wednesday, October 9, following reports of an alleged disturbance in the area.

Armed officers dressed in black are among those on the scene. The force said there was no risk to the wider public.

Images show police tape across the street, which is lined by force vehicles, while dozens of cops stand on the pavement.

Later this evening, cops confirmed in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that a 35-year-old man had been arrested.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.25pm on Wednesday, October 9, we were called to a report of a disturbance in the Haig Crescent area of Dunfermline.

Officers are currently in attendance and enquiries are ongoing. The incident is contained and there is no risk to the wider public.”
