A Stirling chippie has raised over £1300 for a domestic abuse charity after packing in the punters with a cut price menu.

Vincenzo’s Fish and Chips in the city’s Cowane Street ran a two-day special reduced price menu earlier this month with proceeds going to Stirling and District Women’s Aid.

Vincenzo and the team fed over 600 people across the 2 days and managed to raise £ 1312.50 in total (with another £80 coming from additional donations).

Dates are already booked in for next year and Vincenzo would like to continue to support us as a local charity.

A Stirling and District Women’s Aid spokesperson said: “Some of the team went along and said the atmosphere was great, music was blasting, queue was out the door, people really supportive and the food was delicious. All in all a great fundraising event.”

SDWA CEO Lisa McGloin collected a cheque for the amount from Vincenzo and his team.

Prices charged during the two-day fundraiser included a haddock supper for £3.70 and a regular chips for just £1, steak pie supper for £2.60 or a single steak pie for £1.60 and a quarter chicken supper for £3.50, with more special prizes available on other items on the menu.

The idea first came about due to another fundraising event taking place - a raffle run by Kyle Servera (Central Scotland Takeaway review). Vincenzo has also donated gift vouchers to the raffle.

Vincenzo said: “I chose the association because they help the people who are closest to my heart. Women are sacred to me and children. I have six grandchildren - the eldest is three years old and the youngest is three months old.”

The SDWA spokesperson added: “We are so grateful to Vincenzo and his staff for taking on the challenge of fundraising for us.”
