Multiple police units have been called to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee amid a 'disturbance involving a prisoner'.

It is understood at least four police vehicles arrived at the entrance to the hospital before officers rushed inside at around 9.40am on Thursday.

One onlooker told the Courier they saw staff from a GeoAmey prisoner transfer van running into the building.

A 40-year-old man, understood to be a prisoner, has been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with the incident.

Cops have confirmed they attended after received a report of a man "causing a disturbance" at the hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.50am on Thursday, November 14, 2024, police received a report of a man causing a disturbance at a hospital in Dundee. Officers attended and a 40-year-old man has been reported to the procurator fiscal.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service and Scottish Prison Service have been asked for comment.
