P Diddy 'placed on suicide watch' in prison after sex trafficking charges
Sean 'Diddy' Combs - also known as Puff Daddy and P Diddy is in prison after being denied bail.
by Gemma Ryder, Jailene Cuevas, Joseph Wilkes, https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/authors/gemma-ryder/ · Daily RecordReports have emerged that Sean "Diddy" Combs is currently on suicide watch as he awaits a trial over sex trafficking charges.
An insider told PEOPLE that the music mogul is being closely monitored while held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) as he awaits trial, tells the Mirror.
Diddy was arrested on Monday, September 16, in Manhattan after Homeland Security conducted raids earlier this year on his homes in Beverly Hills and Miami.
Now 54, P Diddy faces charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution. On Tuesday, a Manhattan judge denied his bail for a second time, despite his legal team offering a $50 million bond. Diddy has strongly denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, revealed that Diddy is being held in the facility's special housing unit, which offers enhanced security measures.
Agnifilo had requested his client's transfer to a New Jersey prison, but the decision now rests with the Bureau of Prisons. The special housing unit separates inmates from the general population.
The MDC has come under scrutiny for poor conditions, including frequent lockdowns, violence, and a rise in stabbings. The facility, which once housed rapper R. Kelly, has been described as “hell on earth.”
Since Manhattan’s Metropolitan Correctional Center closed in 2021, the MDC has become New York City’s primary federal detention center.
In a recent motion for bail, Diddy's legal team acknowledged these conditions, noting that four inmates have died by suicide at the MDC in the past three years, and a murder occurred there just this summer.

Notable past inmates include Ghislaine Maxwell, who was held at MDC in 2021 for sex trafficking charges. Her attorneys reported she suffered from malnutrition, hair loss, and unsanitary conditions during her time there. Michael Cohen also spent time at the facility.
