Woman charged with 'attempted murder' after death of man in Wishaw

A woman has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder following the death of James McMaster in Wishaw.

Emergency services raced to the North Lanarkshire town's Maxton Crescent after receiving reports of a body being found within a flat on Thursday, December 5. Crews attended and Mr McMaster, 53, was found dead at the scene.

Following a post-mortem examination, police confirmed his death was being treated as suspicious. Police confirmed a 47-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder and assault.

She is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court tomorrow. Scott Chambers, 50, appeared at the same court on Monday also charged in connection with attempted murder.

Chambers, of Wishaw, was also charged with assault to severe injury. He made no plea and was remanded in custody. His next court appearance is expected to be within the next seven days.

A statement from Police Scotland reads: "A 47-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder and assault following the death of a man in Wishaw. James McMaster was found within a flat in Maxton Crescent in Wishaw on Thursday, 5 December, 2024.

"The woman is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Wednesday, December 18."
