A Scots road has been closed as cops continue to probe the death of a man whose body was discovered near a quarry.

The A941 between the B9135 and Inchbroom Road in Lossiemouth will be shut tonight, Friday, December 13, for around an hour to carry out a police reconstruction.

John Geddes' body was found close to the Sunbank Quarry entrance at around 4.10pm on November 11.

The 33-year-old's exact cause of death has not been confirmed, but cops believe he may have been struck by a car. The vehicle and driver have been traced, and investigations are continuing.

John was last seen in the Coulardhill area of Lossiemouth around 10.30pm on November 11, and was reported missing by his family on November 12.

Mountain rescue teams and police combined forces to launch a search operation before the body was discovered.

A Police Scotland statement on Friday said: “The A941 between the B9135 and Inchbroom Road, Lossiemouth, will be closed from 7pm tonight to allow for a reconstruction to be carried out.

“Traffic will require to divert along the B9135 to access Lossiemouth.

“The road will be closed for approximately one hour. Thanks for your assistance.”

Detective Inspector Andrew Wilson said last month: “Our thoughts are with Mr Geddes’ family at this very difficult time.

“We are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area of Elgin Road and the A941 near Lossiemouth between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Monday, November 11, 2024.

“Please contact us if you saw anyone walking in this area, specifically along the side of the A941 near Sunbank Quarry, or if you were driving and have dashcam footage which may assist with our enquiry.”

Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 2252 of November 17.
