VIDEO: Police release footage showing cruiser colliding with another vehicle

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Just after midnight on Sunday, a car crashed into a police vehicle.

The Dayton Police Department is releasing dashcam footage of the moment a police cruiser collided with another vehicle. This happened on Sunday, Nov. 10 around 12:45 a.m.

Police say officers activated their overhead lights as they began to enter an intersection while responding to an officer needing assistance.

As the police car went through the intersection of Westwood Avenue and West Second Street, the cruiser crashed into another vehicle, which police say failed to stop at a posted stop sign.

Both officers in the vehicle were transported to Miami Valley Hospital where they were treated and released. The driver of the other vehicle was also transported for minor injuries.

The DPD Traffic Services Unit is investigating.
