Highway 1 reopens

UPDATE 9:40 p.m.

Following an all-day closure, the Trans-Canada Highway has now reopened between Golden and Revelstoke.

The highway was closed following a serious crash Saturday morning, but the road has now reopened.


UPDATE 7:40 p.m.

The Trans-Canada Highway remains closed following a crash earlier Saturday morning.

The mountain highway has been closed between Revelstoke and Golden since just before noon on Saturday following the crash.

DriveBC has no estimate of when the highway may reopen, as an RCMP investigation is underway. DriveBC will provide its next update on the closure at 10 p.m.


UPDATE 2:48 p.m.

The Trans-Canada Highway is closed between Revelstoke and Golden.

According to DriveBC, it will likely be several hours before it reopens.

The next update is scheduled for 8 p.m.


UPDATE 2:13 p.m.

The Trans-Canada Highway is closed west of the Rogers Pass.

DriveBC says Highway 1 is closed in both directions between Hemlock Grove Boardwalk and Illecillewaet Campground due to a vehicle incident.

Posts on social media say travellers near the scene have been told it could be hours before the wreckage is cleared.

Drivers on the Trans-Canada Highway are being warned about a crash that has slowed traffic in both directions near the Rogers Pass summit.

According to DriveBC, a vehicle incident is creating delays between the Rogers Pass summit and Glacier National Park.

Motorists are being told to expect delays.
