Police are looking for CCTV footage after one man was killed and another wounded in a shooting in Langley that is believed to be related to the ongoing B.C. gang conflict.

Langley RCMP responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 196 Street and 84 Avenue around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Responding officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the men died of his injuries at the scene. The other was taken to hospital, treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. The deceased was known to police, but his name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team took charge of the investigation and has been canvassing the neighbourhood looking for video footage or witnesses. There is also a secondary scene linked to the shooting at 208 Street and 78 Avenue. A canvass in that area resumed Sunday for surveillance footage and witnesses.

“This investigation is in its early stages,” said Staff Sergeant David Lee of IHIT, “we are working in partnership with the Langley RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS), and the BC Coroners Service. Homicide investigators are liaising with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU-BC) to determine how the victims are associated to each other and how this relates to the ongoing gang conflict.”

Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage in the areas of 196 Street / 84 Avenue and 208 Street / 78 Avenue, between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on September 21, is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
