Two machetes, knives and suspected fentanyl was seized last weekend by Kamloops Mounties after an officer spotted a suspicious man riding a bike on the North Shore.

According to police, a constable patrolling the area of McGowan Avenue and Aspen Street on the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 29, observed a man on a bike without a helmet with two machetes sticking out of his backpack.

“The officer arrested the man and located machetes, four knives and suspected fentanyl and meth as part of the investigation,” RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in a news release.

“The suspect was issued a ticket for cycling without wearing a helmet under the Motor Vehicle Act.”

Evelyn said the items were seized by police for destruction.
