Police say booze is to blame after a Kamloops woman drove into a tree and through three fences last weekend in Brocklehurst.

According to Mounties, emergency crews were called to an address on Happyvale Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, for a report of a crash.

RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said a woman got into a pickup truck and drove into a tree, through three fences and into garden planters.

Police said the woman refused to provide a breath sample, which carries the same penalty as drunk driving.

“She was arrested for impaired driving and lodged in cells to sober up safely,” Evelyn said. “A man on scene was also arrested and lodged in cells for obstruction.”

Evelyn said the woman was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and her vehicle was towed for a 30-day impound.

Anyone with information about the incident can call police at 250-828-3000.
