Final day to cast a vote

Final voting day for the 2024 provincial election has arrived, with more than two dozen polling stations set up for residents in the Salmon Arm-Shuswap riding to cast their ballots.

According to Elections BC, 25 voting places throughout the vast riding will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19. A list of voting places can be found below, or on the Elections BC website.

Voters can find out their electoral district or riding by entering their address at this link.

By the end of the day, votes will be tallied to find out which candidate will represent the Salmon Arm-Shuswap riding in Victoria, and which party will form the next B.C. government.

Thousands of residents in the Salmon Arm-Shuswap riding have already cast their ballots. Elections BC reported a total of 14,189 people voted during one of the six advance voting days earlier in October.

People are eligible to vote if they are a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older as of Oct. 19, 2024, and a resident of B.C. since April 18, 2024. A list of acceptable voter ID and other information can be found on the Elections BC website.

There are five candidates vying to represent the Salmon Arm-Shuswap riding in Victoria. These include the BC NDP's Sylvia Lindgren, Independent Greg McCune, Independent Sherry Roy, the BC Green Party’s Jed Wiebe, and the BC Conservative party’s David Williams.

Candidates took part in all-candidates forums in Salmon Arm and Sicamous. Two candidates took part in a virtual climate-focused forum, and have talked to Castanet about their stance on housing and homelessness, as well as wildfire response and mitigation.
