by · PlymouthLive

A rare hidden underground Cold War bunker sold at auction - for just £8,000. The bunker was built in 1950s post-war Britain and is located on the outskirts of Ugborough in South Hams, Devon.

The Royal Observer Corps (ROC) Cold War nuclear bunker, situated at the top of a hill in a field, is surrounded by panoramic countryside views. The rare piece of post-war history sold on an online auction this week for a bargain price of £8,000 through Luscombe Maye estate agents.

The property was sold after several people placed bids in the hope of securing it. The underground bunker measures 11.4 square metres internally, and must be entered by a ladder going underground. It features a closet for chemical toilet as well as cupboards, a shelf, a bunkbed and various other items.
