Man charged with grievous bodily harm after Barbican crash

A man is set to appear at Plymouth Magistrates Court this morning [Saturday] following the collision on the Barbican on Thursday afternoon.

Police had been called to Southside Street on Thursday, November 21 at around 2pm following reports of a collision between a blue Audi S3 and a 32-year-old pedestrian. Inquiries soon found the injured pedestrian was the driver of an orange Volkswagen van who was later taken to Derriford Hospital accident and emergency department.

The injured man has undergone surgery and remains in hospital in a stable condition at this time.

The driver of the Audi later presented himself at Charles Cross police station where he was initially arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driver. On Friday, after police secured CCTV footage of the collision, the driver, aged 29, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

On Friday evening [November 22] detectives charged Jordan Blackmore of Fore Street, Bere Ferrers, with one count of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one count of section 4A public order.

He was remanded into custody and will attend court today [Saturday].
