Dog Stands Guard Over 81-Year-Old Owner's Body After She Falls Into A Pond

A heartbreaking incident in Thailand has shone a spotlight on the unwavering loyalty of a dog named Taohu, who refused to leave his owner's side after she tragically fell into a pond and passed away
According to Thai newspaper Matichon Online, on 21 November, authorities were alerted to the death of an 81-year-old woman in a fruit orchard in Chanthaburi province.
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered the woman's body face down in the pond, with her 4-year-old golden retriever, Taohu, lying at the water's edge, refusing to move.
Investigators found slip marks near the pond, suggesting that the woman, identified as Chalo, may have lost her balance
As officers recovered her body, Taohu grew visibly distressed, circling and barking incessantly, trying to get closer.
The sight broke the hearts of the deceased's relatives and neighbours who were at the scene.
Chalo, who lived with her grandchildren in a nearby home, was inseparable from Taohu, whom she had raised from a puppy
That morning, Chalo had gone to the orchard with her daughter, granddaughter, and Taohu to tend to the garden.
She was last seen trimming the grass near the pond, with Taohu faithfully by her side.
When the family noticed her absence around midday, they began searching and eventually found her body with Taohu's help. The dog had remained by the pond, leading them to the tragic discovery.
An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as accidental, and the family raised no objections, with her body returned to her loved ones for religious rites.
