Chennai Air Show Tragedy Live Updates: The 92nd anniversary of the IAF, drew thousands of spectators along Chennai’s Marina Beach on October 6. However, the extreme weather conditions and the large crowd led to multiple health emergencies and led to death of five individuals. 

A senior police official confirmed that one person died on the beach, while four others passed away nearby. All were part of the massive crowd gathered to watch the airshow, as per a News18 report. Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian added that the condition of those undergoing treatment at the hospitals was stable. He furthermore informed that there was no stampede while the spectators started leaving for home at the same time.

Opposition parties, particularly the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), blamed the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government for poor planning and mismanagement. AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami accused the government of failing to provide adequate security and basic facilities, such as water and medical assistance, for the large crowd.

Chennai Air Show Tragedy Live: "...All the measures were taken by Tamil Nadu govt. Due to some mistakes, there were 5 deaths. 15 lakh people had participated in the event. As it is hot & humid in Chennai, some people got dehydrated and fainted there. The Metro department supplied water and ambulances were provided by the state govt. Chennai Corporation made proper arrangement to put up barricades. Heat is the cause of the deaths. Nothing went wrong from the department's side or IAF, it was only the climate," Chennai Mayor said.

"I was shocked to hear that 5 people died due to crowding and more than 200 people were injured and admitted to the hospital for treatment during the IAF 'AIR Show' program held at Chennai Marina Beach. The only reason for this is that the DMK government has not taken care of the safety of the public without providing basic facilities and adequate transport arrangements for the public who came to witness the IAF Air Show," BJP chief Annamalai said in the post.

BJP national spokesperson CR Kesavan hit out at the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government over the death of 5 people due to overcrowding during air show by the Indian Air Force (IAF) at the Marina Beach in Chennai and said that the state government was incapable and unprepared to deal with this event.

CR Kesavan said, "Is this the DMK government's Dravida model of utter negligence and incompetence? Yesterday's tragedy at Chennai Air Force show very clearly showed that the State Government, led by DMK, was clearly incapable and unprepared to deal with this event. It is startling because barely a month before you had F4 night racing championships held in Chennai by the DMK govt. Such priority and precedence was accorded to this F4 event. The administration left no stone unturned in making sure that everything went properly. Why the same priority could not be accorded to this Air Show is the question."
