Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday (November 28, 2024) alleged that 886 students fell sick and food poisoning cases had been reported in 38 residential schools after the Congress government came to power in the State, indicating the level of “apathy and indifference”.

At a press conference held at the State office, general secretary K. Venkateshwarlu and others said it was “shameful” that the ruling party bigwigs had been blaming the Opposition for the unabated incidents of food poisoning leading of the students.

He alleged that altogether there had been 51 students deaths in the last one year, including four due to food poisoning, 14 due to ill-health, 10 under suspicious circumstances and 23 others due to other reasons. The BJP leader criticised former BRS Minister K.T. Rama Rao stating that the situation in the social welfare hostels was no better under his government rule when students complained of being fed worm infested good. The BRS car steering was in Congress Party hands and both had some kind of understanding which has halted Mr. Revanth Reddy from taking action against “corruption” of the previous government, he added.
